A SERIAL stock thief has been arrested after he was allegedly caught red-handed driving away three cattle he had stolen from a grazing area in Guyu.
Khulisa Ndlovu, 36, of Tshoboyi East Village in Gwanda pleaded not guilty when his trial commenced yesterday before Gwanda magistrate, Sheila Nazombe.
He was remanded in custody to Tuesday for continuation of trial as the state intended to call more witnesses to testify against him.
Prosecutor, Takunda Mafudze, told the court that on January 3 this year at around 12PM, Ndlovu and his accomplice, Thembinkosi Ndlovu, who is on the run, went to Thuli grazing area in Guyu.
They stole three beasts that they had selected. While they were still driving the cattle, they were intercepted by two villagers in the area, Abednico Sibanda and Mqondisi Khumalo.
Thembinkosi ran away, leaving Ndlovu behind and he was apprehended.
When questioned about the cattle, Ndlovu failed to give a satisfactory response.
He was taken to the police who interviewed him and it was discovered that he had stolen the cattle, say prosecutors.
Prosecutors say Ndlovu has past convictions for stealing cattle and his accomplice is still on the run.
