LATEST: Boutique owner steals from Power Sales to restock shop

A WOMAN who runs a popular boutique in Hwange has been sentenced to 12 months in jail for stealing clothes from Power Sales retail store in the mining town.

Nomaqhawe Ncube told the court that she ran a boutique and had run out of money to restock.

Ncube, who resides at Dadani complex pleaded guilty before Hwange regional magistrate, Mrs Dambudzo Malunga, who suspended three months of her jail term for three years.

The remainder of her sentence will also be suspended on condition that she completes 315 hours of community service at local Makwika primary school.

For the state, Mr Onias Nyathi said on 9 September, 2016 at around 13.30PM, Nomaqhawe Ncube entered Power Sales retail shop.

He said she stole three blouses, a pair of legin trousers, two skirts, two dresses and hid them in her bag and proceeded towards the exit door without paying for the items.

The store manager, Sunungurai Ncube noticed her suspicious behavior as she was leaving the shop and called her.

Security guards searched her and discovered the loot worth $90 in her bag
