A 12-YEAR-OLD girl died after she was thrown out of a donkey-drawn scotch cart which then landed on her head, killing her instantly.
Sanele Moyo was travelling with her 18 year old cousin, Olga Sibanda, when the scotch cart overturned after hitting a rock on their way from
Hingwe Business centre to Gotjombo area.
Sibanda sustained minor injuries.
Village head, Sam Moyo confirmed the accident which occurred last Saturday around 6PM.
“The two girls had been sent by their grandparents to buy a 50kg bag of mealie meal from Hingwe Business Centre.
They were travelling on a donkey-drawn scotch cart but there was no one leading it.
“The scotch cart is suspected to have been moving at a high speed and it hit a rock on their way back and overturned while the two girls were riding on it,” he said.
Moyo said Sanele was thrown out of the scotch cart and it landed on her head.
He said her cousin managed to jump out of the scotch cart before it overturned, escaping with minor injuries.
Moyo said Olga alerted villagers from a nearby homestead of the accident.
He said Sanele died on the spot as a result of head injuries.
