POLICE are looking for a man who allegedly broke into a house in Bulawayo’s New Magwegwe suburb and raped a woman who was sleeping on a sofa. National police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said the man switched off a light after breaking into the house on Sunday.
She said the man allegedly raped the woman without protection and fled from the scene.
“A 24-year-old female adult retired to bed leaving everything intact. At around 1 AM, she was awakened by the unidentified man who was on top of her.
“She screamed for help but was threatened with death by the unidentified man. The culprit left the house without stealing anything,” said Snr Asst Comm Charamba.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Snr Asst Comm Charamba said a 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a relative who had been left to take care of her in Domboshava, near Harare.
“A female juvenile aged 12 years was raped by a 20-year-old relative after they had been left together at home last Friday.
“The girl went to her bedroom to sleep leaving the culprit awake. He followed her and covered her mouth using a cloth and raped her once,” Snr Asst Comm Charamba said.
